Our expert rebody, conversion and refurbishment capability begins with an evaluation of the candidate freight cars and scope of project analysis. Necessary design and engineering work is completed and production drawings are prepared. The work is then performed at one of our shop locations utilizing our knowledge of component fabrication, drawings parts from our extensive inventory.

We can easily handle any major rebody programs or you can choose FreightCar America kits to rebody cars in your shop. We fabricate kits with the same care that we use to build new cars and ship the kits per customer requirements. For example, complete rebody kits include side assemblies, ends, floor sheets and inside bracing assemblies. Various welded or unwelded assemblies are also inclued as required. We'll even send along our oun experts to your shop to make sure the project gets off to a smooth start.
