Johnstown America names new International sales executive

Johnstown, Pennsylvania, February 12, 2003 - FreightCar America announced today that it has appointed Charles J. Magolske as its managing director-international. Magolske has responsibility for Johnstown America's international sales, working out of Johnstown's Chicago offices. Johnstown America's president, John E. Carroll, Jr., noted Magolske is a strong addition to Johnstown: "Charles is an excellent addition to our management team. We are pleased to have him aboard to help us with our international growth."

Magolske has an extensive background in manufacturing and international business. His prior manufacturing experience includes manufacturing and management positions with Lucas Aerospace Corporation, Owens Illinois, FMC Corporation, and since 1991, with Thrall Car and Trinity industries.

At Thrall, Magolske served in many management capacities, including director of material control, director of service parts, vice president of business development and vice president, international markets. While at Thrall, Magolske led Thrall's entry into the European market.

Magolske, also a licensed professional engineer, has a broad educational background. His education includes a law degree from Loyola University, Chicago, an MBA from the University of Virginia, and a BS in manufacturing engineering technology from Cal Poly in Pomona, California.

Magolske, his wife Anne Marie, and their two daughters, Caroline and Elizabeth, live in Winnetka, Illinois.

FreightCar America (JAC) is a leading producer of railcars. It is an important supplier of railway freight cars in Latin America and the Far East. Some of the car types JAC designs and builds are aluminum coal cars (it is the industry leader), flat cars, mill gondola cars, heavy haul intermodal cars, the new AVC aluminum motor vehicle carrier, and the VersaCoil™ steel coil car.
